This is likely to be of interest only to locals, but there’s a rumor that the Wolly theatre will be re-opened. Which would, or at least could, be very cool. And on the same site, I found a like to this brief documentary about the Wollaston and the Coolidge Corner theatres. I do not like ‘party games’ like Scattergories or Taboo. No particular reason, they just rub me the wrong way. However, I would happily make an exception for Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game. Hell, I would probably throw a party to play Last Night on Earth. And if I could find a copy [...] First up, a cool story about how Library of Congress archivists ‘crowdsourced’ an image of downtown Brockton to obtain more information about the picture. Apparently, the Library’s flickr set contains all sorts of New England images in need of metadata. It will be hard to recreate the atmosphere of the original, but hopefully the new establishment will develop a character of its own. First of all, is it necessary to strip mine every bit of Generation X’s childhood for today’s ‘entertainment?’ Also, despite my admiration for Kim Richards, the original Witch Mountain films were just not that good. For your movie-choosing convenience – the Ninja Movie Decision Tree. Revenge of the Ninja remains my favorite Golan-Globus movie – high praise indeed when one considers my adolescence was littered with such Golan-Globus gems as Breakin’ and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, Missing in Action, and Hercules. Peter Gammons. In the way-back times he functioned as a sort of baseball lifeline for me. More recently, his non-covering of baseball’s steroids era disappointed me. Frankly, if you need to be urged or prompted to register and then vote you are too fucking lazy and dumb to exercise the franchise.
