Every so often in my travels I’ll pass an eatery, usually of the greasy spoon or diner variety, with a sign stating that the establishment features the ‘New York System.’
So, anyone know exactly what this system is?

I believe it refers to a recipe/method for serving hot dogs (aka “weiners”), originated by Greek immigrants in New York. See also http://www.ediblerhody.com/pages/articles/spring2007/pdfs/rhodesideDiaries.pdf
I wonder if there is a vegetarian branch of this system?
Wow, I guess it is true that you learn something new every day. I certainly hadn’t heard of this before.
there’s a place nearby that advertises “new york style sushi” — maybe it means it fell on the floor, or has a little Hoffa in it? either way, I haven’t sampled it.
