I’ve written before of my long-standing fondness for the Salem Willows and the arrival of summer is generally the signal to head north and visit. One of the joys of a trip to the Willows, besides the ocean and junk food, is the arcade. Some of them, like the skee ball pictured above, have been there as long as I can remember. Other games, such as the ones after the jump, were no doubt standing sentinel long before my entry into this world.
Really now, is any seaside arcade complete without the requisite creepy fortune teller machine?
The formidable Kiss-o-Meter. Do you dare venture its heights?

The glories to which a young lover may aspire on… the Kiss-o-meter.
What they mean by ‘real moving pictures’ is a mechanized flip book.
The handle and looking glass for the ‘real moving pictures’ advertised in the picture below. Just $0.05 folks!
Old time baseball meets old time pinball.

Love these pictures!!!!
Thanks, I had fun taking these. If I find more ‘old’ arcade games, I might make them a series.
Great stuff – especially since I have a soft spot in my heart for the place too. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Hampton & Seabrook could be an entire book full of old arcade images.
Can you say Camera Road Trip!
humm….doesnt Nantasket have an old arcade as well??
shorter road trip
There’s also that pretty sweet carousel at Nantasket. Not an old arcade game, but it evokes the same sort of nostalgia.
Didn’t the carousel forbid photos?
I did take some arcade pics there, but they were with my camera phone – you can see ‘em on my flickr account.
I don’t think they ban cameras–wasn’t there a bunch of photos of carousel weddings and carousel birthday parties on the wall? Anyway, there’s only one way to find out for sure!
